Weighing 16.25 g., this bronze coin shows Emperor Domitian on obverse, and it was struck at Antioch. I acquired it to raise my collection of the 12 Caesars to seven. I still miss 5 of them. Happy to share my first Domitian among my coin-friends.
Nice! You've really been making headway in your 12 Caesars in just a short amount of time lately! Way too go! Here's my nicest Domitian from Antioch:
Congrats on the latest addition. Domitian (81 - 96 A.D.) SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria. Antioch AR Tetradrachm O: AVT KAISAR DOMITIANOS SEB GERM, laureate head right; aegis at point of bust. R: ETOUS NEOV IEROV H, eagle standing facing right on thunderbolt; palm in right field. RY 8 (88/9 AD) 14.77g 26mm Prieur 145; RPC II 1978; Wruck 108
Those coin-friends who have 8 or 17 or 31 of Domitian coins, do they all have necessarily the complete set of the 12 Caesars? At least one of each.
I do. I'll have to check how many 12 Caesar sets I have, but I have no Caligula in silver and only a provincial silver for Otho. Since most of the 12 Caesar's were more closely related to Antony than to Augustus I thought it was appropriate to include Antony in my 12 Caesar's +1 group shot.
Hmmm, this got me a wee bit curious, so I counted my Domitians. Both Imperial and provincial I have 224. And I'm still not satisfied!
i lack 3(Julius, Caligula and Claudius) in silver for the 12 and one(Julius) for just having all 12 in any denomination.. i have several of some but haven't all in any yet..i think
