I came across some unopened still sealed I. The envelope 1965 SMS sets. In one of them I found a quarter cherry pickers FS-026. Took it to my local coin guy and he verified and we have sent it to NGC. I also found a nickel in one of the other sets. It had about a 10 degree off strike. We didn’t send it though. Both coins were perfect condition so I’m super stoked to see what NGC says.
Little update. I sent this coin to PCGS and I didn’t get it back. They sent me a 1965 sms quarter but not this one. The one I received has no doubling
Well, it might be obvious to you, but not to me. You never posted photos of the full coin, obverse and reverse, and I honestly never saw doubling on it to begin with. I’m afraid you’ll have to provide more photos of both alleged coins before convincing us that PCGS swapped your coin.
Clear photos of the whole coin before and after would certainly help, but I can see some small marks in exactly the same location in both pictures. I would say it is the same coin.
I did send it originally to NGC and it came back with out the designation. When the dealer asked them about it they said they didn’t give that designation. The dealer suggested to send it to pcgs. I just got them back.
I suppose NGC could have swapped it either way I didn’t get back what I sent off and I’m not very happy
I highly doubt PCGS/NGC would take your coin seriously. You need more proof and provide us with better pics.
I’m personally interested in seeing the cert number from NGC as well as from PCGS. Something smells fishy...
It was the quarter that you sent in or the nickel? The last photo you took of the quarter is at a totally different angle than you posted first. That's why it doesn't look right. You sent in the quarter and the quarter didn't come back? Whats up with the nickel?
Note the short die gouge south-west from the bottom of the U in TRUST...you can see it in both photos. Larry Nienaber
