I think I found a 2017 P nickel with a small cud/die break just off the right side of the Monticello roof, and a 2018 P nickel with one along the outer edge of the far left wall of the building. Thoughts? Also found what I originally thought was a 2018 D with doubled die errors on both the obverse and reverse, but after a second look, I'm leaning more towards MD/DDD. I'm admittedly still learning though, so I'd really appreciate a second opinion on these, just to be sure I'm not tossing something cool.
They are not CUDs.. They are DUDs As stated.. Small Die Breaks or Chips. A CUD is something else involving a Die Break involving the Rim and goes into the field of the coin. This is a CUD -
Those are not cuds. A cud is a break along the rim that extends into the field. What you found are simply die chips. For the other coin, all I see is machine doubling. Chris
My apologies. Die break, got it.. Guess I missed that. This is my first stab at searching for error coins, so I was just excited to have found anything at all, but I'm still fuzzy on all the terminology and determining what's what... I figured the last one was MD. I just wanted to be sure, as I clearly have a lot to learn, but there doesn't seem to be much patience for us beginners in these forums, so I'll just wing it from now on, haha. Welcome to CT Brittni, and you obviously know more about coins than some new members. Using MD/DDD and the terms die chip and cud tells me that you have read up and know a bit about coins.
