Hi everyone 1989D penny Would you call this a double 8? I can’t find anything else wrong with the penny. It looks like protruding metal resembling an 8. Would this still be slip platting?
Split plating? For some reason I'm thinking deteriorated die doubling. But I am not an expert, so let's see what they have to say. Edited to acknowledge @furryfrog02 opinion about plating issue.
Thank you , Very much appreciated I have never owned a graded coin. Only thousands of circulation coins to go through that I have collected over 40 years. Hopefully I can find something worth grading
Imho, almost nothing you find in circulation will be worth grading. Not because what you may find in circulation is junk...but becaus “grading” and “slabbing” are overrated. You can find some cool stuff in circulation. I certainly have. Skip paying the TPGs to grade your stuff though. Unless you plan to sell and it is absolutely worth it.
What? I'm not good enough to answer? It's classic DDD - Die Deterioration Doubling! http://www.error-ref.com/die-deterioration-doubling-incuse/
Ohh yaaaayyY! @paddyman98 !! I thought it was DDD!! We can't expect you to be everywhere, all time time.........or can we???
