Just started looking at coins, found this 1984P dime. Looks like a possible error. Is it common or does it have some value. Does anyone know anything about this?

It's a collar clash The dies were slightly mis-aligned, and clashed with the reeded collar, transferring the 'reeds' to the die.
I sure would keep it and I would keep it along with a copy of this thread which contains Mr. Weinberg's diagnosis and explanation. Nice.
