to sell on ebay and make a killer profit to help pay off the 2nd mortgage i had to take out to purchase 100 boxes of presidential dollars, 3 new angle grinders, and 1 dremel. not to all the fees associated with ebay, paypal, and all the pcgs slabbing charges.
I don't understand why people are paying $599 to buy these on ebay when they can buy the same thing at us mint for $530/510
the same thing? are you new to this field?. there is no such thing as the same thing. every coin, every date, every condition, every variety and error are not the same thing. and it is based on supply and demand on all those thing.
Elaine -- I believe ML94539 is referring to the fact that the coins are still available directly from the US Mint for cheaper prices than people are paying on eBay. The coins people are selling on eBay are the EXACT SAME ONES they're receiving from the Mint, at this point, there's no question about the coins/dates/variety/error being different, but a chance that the sets have already been cherried by dealers looking for 70s. I, too, question why anyone wouldn't just buy directly from the Mint, and the only conclusion I can come to is -- some people are morons.
spouse gold in that case. e-bay sellers might have some insiders fixing the price. by using other names and bidding it at a higher price to look good on that certain coin. be careful.
Wonder if the mint will stop selling the Dolley Madison spouse gold coins, or raise the price to match the price of the Elizabeth Monroe's?
last day today at 12:00 noon. it is the last day to buy it. 5th spouse will cost you 599.95 for unc. 619.99 for proof.
Are you saying that today at noon is the last day to buy the Dolly Madison coin? If so, where are you seeing that?
last day check it at mint website after 12:00 noon. or check it at upcoming products. the ratio for unc vs: proof is 9 to 14.
:desk: I'll pass. Thanks though. To anyone who really doesn't need Elaine's update on metal prices every two minutes here is the site you can see for yourself. http://www.kitco.com/market/ I think this site has been posted before but Elaine doesn't think any one else knows how to check precious metal quotes so here it is again And by the way I do think silver is undervalued especially with respect to gold and I own quite a bit of silver but I really don't need 4 different threads started by the same person but saying the same thing with quotes every few minutes to know that. JMO.:desk:
Guess you weren't right about the Madison Spouse coins, as you can still buy them at the old price ($529.95/proof and $509.95/unc).
mint extended 4th spouse gold the u.s. mint extended 4th spouse gold offering period. if that so. i will cancel my order.
What is your source for that info? The Dolley Madison coins were still being offered on the Mint's site today after noon ET at the earlier price.
spouses gold the reason that i cancel it. because the 4th spouse gold will continue to add more to its mintage. instead to close it at around 9,500 for uncirculated.
Based on the new price of the Monroe gold coin compared to the price still left on the Madison I think it will be interesting to see sales numbers next week. It looks like the Monroe is overpriced and unless gold keeps climbing it could hit a new low for total sales [and probably will] when all is said and done, at least until the next coin is released. Had these coins been minted in silver though I bet they would be selling out at very high mintages.
I think the flippers on ebay and the like are going to have a hard time getting their $$ back on the Monroe spouse gold coins. Unless of course, gold continues to go up like it has.
two prices to select most likely, in the near future. all spouse gold will be traded base on value of spot gold. now that the mint have two prices for us to select. 4th spouse at $509.95 and the 5th spouse at $599.95. which one you select?. it is simply to choose the 4th spouse. and the 5th spouse will become few pieces sold. and the 4th and 5th spouses might continue to sell them with the future spouses. until all pieces sell out. the mint is clever enough. my suggestion to the mint is to sell them at the same price at $599.95. or using the average between two at $554.95. the later will be the best way.
mint listening now the mint declared 4th spouse gold uncirculated coin not available due to price hiked. they might be listening to us.
