    THANK YOU!!!!

[So, it would say Troy if it was Troy.]

    Therefore, one pound (16 oz) = 16 X $19.26= $308.16!

    Nice

    NO

    1 US pound = 13.58 troy ounces
    13.58 * 19.26 = $280.82

Nobody but nobody ever sells silver by the US pound. It is always sold by the Troy pound. For that matter it is always measured in Troy.

And no, it does not say Troy on it. Do the ASE or AGE coins say 1 Troy Ounce ? No, they say 1 ounce period.

If you have a 1 pound silver round Frank - it weighs 12 Troy ounces.

So you are saying that 1 ounce does not equal 28.35 grams?? Or one lb doesn't equal .4536 kilograms??

OK ya want confusion, here's confusion. A pound of feathers is heavier than a pound of gold. But an ounce of gold is heavier than an ounce of feathers.

since the feathers would be 16 regular ounces and the gold would be 12 troy ounces....yeah you're right. but not confusing since a troy ounce weighs more than a regular ounce.

See people, this is why we need to get with the program and switch to the metric system like the entire rest of the world has lol...

Why stubbornly hold onto a system of measurments invented by a country we rebelled against because we didn't want to do things their way anymore? Even they have abandoned that system.

    1000 grams = 1 kilogram

Now if they just quoted precious metal prices per gram instead of by troy ounce lol this would be a lot simpler, wouldn't it?

Hate to break it to you, but in a 90's COINage issue, a company was interviewed selling Pound Rounds , but they didn't use Troy Pounds. Wish I could ID the particular issue....

O.K. Years ago an acquaintance of mine was strapped for cash. He sold me a Dale Earnhardt thing which has "one pound proof" stamped on it. I did not think it was silver when I bought it from him but being the nice guy I am , I was willing to help him out and bought it ($25). This thing is from the Earnhardt estate. Anyhow it has sat on its little stand on my nick Nack shelf for years. It survived a house fire and year of inattention by me. Nowhere does it say anything about it being silver but I have seen some like it being sold on ebay as a 1 pound proof silver coin. One actually closed at $190. Now I am curious if this pound is like a gold pound or is it like the goose feather pound. . I guess I could put it on a scale but that would be to easy. Still not 100% sure it is silver but think so. It may just have to remain a mystery
