Just got this back from ANACS. I antiqued and and matted it. It was a bulk strike piece I picked up cheap on ebay and decided to make a matte proof. MS66. Phone picks, but nicer in hand. 20190310_144354.jpg 20190310_143929.jpg

Diamond dust and small air pressure gun or chemical for the matte effect?

  8. Did they really indicate “antiqued” on the label?

Yep. It looks like the 2016 silver antiqued 1916 dime-quarter-half set of 1 oz. rounds.

Yes they did and that’s pretty frightening to be truthful . So now we have guys other than Dan artificially toning and antiquing their regular issued coins and ANACS obviously has no clue as shown here ....Scary !!

I don't have a problem with them labeling it as such, but I do agree they dropped the ball by not designating that it was done by someone other than Dan

It sure looks a lot better that those AT Morgans you see in crazy colors and straight graded by the "BEST" TPG.

    I agree.

But strictly speaking, shouldn't it grade "Details -- Artificially Toned"? Doubt it'd fit on the label, so maybe the point is moot.

BTW, I think that coin looks great antiqued & matted -- especially the high-relief Reverse!

For Carr stuff he does some antique stuff they don't details so straight grade is fine but it should have been noted it wasn't done by Dan. I really think they thought Dan did it

I must agree they thought Dan did it.
I must say it really looks great and don't buy the label buy the coin

  20. I really like the antiqued look on the Peace dollar. I have seen others alter (artificially color tone) Dan’s work and sell it on eBay. Once you buy an item, IMO you can do whatever you want with it. However, I agree that ANACS probably thought Dan did it and did not note it on the label. The only way to tell would be to check Dan’s site and see that he has never antiqued a Peace dollar. My guess is that ANACS did not do their research or got the okay from Dan. @dcarr

Thank you. I wasn't trying to pull one over on ANACS, but post-mint processing is noted - "Antiqued". No crazy colors, just emphasized high-relief details.
