Hi guys, I have a friend and her husband passed away and he was a collector.
He left a 125 dollar gift certificate for the mint laying around, and she has since asked me what she should get, I am now turning to you guys. any comments?

Shawn - I would say something he would have bought as part of his collection. This could be the last part of a collection he put together and a special way to remember him.

Sorry for her loss - our prayers go out to her!

    Best Regards

    Darryl

What Mint? I've never heard of gift certificates from the US Mint.

I guess no one here noticed that snaz lives in Canada? The gift certificate may very well be for the Royal Canadian Mint...

You failed to mention if she wants to continue with those coins or not. You may want to ask her what her long term thoughts are concerning his collection. Sorry to say but in many instances after a period of morning, such items are eventually just dumped. Not thrown out, I mean sort of eleminated. She may or may not know now about tomorrow and you may not want to bring it up at this time.
My suggestion is if those do not have an experation date or you have some time, try suggesting she hold on to that for just a while longer. If at a later date she wants to continue the hobby, then sit down with a Canadian Mint Catalog and ask what appeals to her. I would not suggest anything unless she stresses you do. You could be infringing on her memories of the person that just passed away.

thank you all for the kind words and thoughts!
No, I was talking about The united states mint.
She lives in California. As it turns out, the first link that was posted here is absolutely perfect, I asked her what he mostly collected, and she said " Gold Coins" lol..
So I showed her the link, and grabbed that one.
She dosnt have any ambition to finish his collection or to, add on to it in any way. He was actually a seller on ebay, i think it was a small time show though.

so once again, thank you for all the kind thoughts, they are appreciated.
