This person, Vette1986 sells a ton of coins on ebay, and has decent feedback. Anyone have any goods or bads on this ebayer?
I have bought from him before he does have a lot of auctions but I get the feeling most if not all of his coins were cleaned if you do buy from him, he's a nice guy and I had no problems but the cleaning thing really scares me away
I am very careful, but I buy from him on occasion. Any fuzzy pics should scare you, they are fuzzy for a reason. He can get a good clean sharp pic on NICE coins, and not so nice pics on not so nice coins, lol. Fair shipping prices, fast shipper, and because I'm careful, knew what I was getting everytime, never sent one back.
Ive bought maybe a 100 Morgans from him. His selections tend to be for album fillers like me but he always seems to have better than average stuff. Once in a while I get a flatliner but majority are very nice and quite a few actual GEMS. A few were major surprises on the positive side. Real deep mirrors! He keeps up with email and seems to have no problem honoring his satisfaction guarantee. He is listing probably a 100 new coins everyday so I have the habit of looking even if Im not really looking. LOL His pics are pretty poor but Ive gotten good at peering thru the pixels and interpolating what might be there in hand based on previous coins. I have no problem recommending him.
I had bought from him a few times. I always objected to his fuzzy photos of the date and the reverse was the same. His coins were always a grade or 2 less than expected so I stopped buying there. I even asked him to clarify his photos so we could judge the condition better. When he ignored me I stopped buying from him and feel good about it. ANYONE who consistently uses fuzzy photos is obviously hiding the true quality of his coins. This scheme seems to work for him. I'll never buy there again. He's hiding too many things. Why give him your money? Bruce
Why? because I have consistently gotten more coin than I paid for! I agree he is a high volume seller and you have to pay attention. I can only speak about his Morgans as I have no experience with other coins.
Only bought from the seller once - did not have a problem and the coin was as described. With any auction I make sure I can see the coin good enough to form an opinion - the second their is a doubt I skip it. As a matter of fact I skip a lot of auctions without the thumbnail picture. Yeah - I probably miss some decent auctions, but that is the sellers fault and it costs them some bids(well from me at least). I also watch a ton of auctions, then bid on fewer and lose a lot. I do win a few. I just wish they would put the sellers name next to the auctions - there are a few sellers I will just flat out skip.
I have bought a handful of coins from Vette. While I won't say the coins were overgraded they were certainly not undergraded. And the photos were taken under the most favorable lighting conditions for each particular coin.
i have seen quite a few people buy coins off off him 3/4/5x as much as there worth but that is there fault, I have bought quite a few barbers from him, a few liberty's and a few franks also. There was a coin or two that i questioned, being the grade he stated, but he has made it up in other coins that were a little higher than stated. so over all I say he is good ebayer.
I have started collecting in Jan 2015. I have 100 Morgans have bought lots, and lots from them. Seem to be okay, but I have been learnings more about coin buying. You have to remember I do not take anything over $100.00 or much over. These coins are raw and ungraded except for Circulated vs Unsc. Most of mine coins look okay, but I sure if you had an expert come in.......Probably will still buy from them. But if I go over the $150.00 I am buying certified graded
All I can add is that everything I have ever bought from him was exactly how it looked in his easely magnified photos. Sometimes even better. I have only bought copper coins though. He will sometimes have good varieties although they Will Always have some little something wrong with them. Still, I always see, in his photos, what I'm getting. And, I do try to stay away from cleaned coins.
I bought from him when I first started collecting. The coins I purchased had nice luster (as was represented in photos), but I too get the feeling that the coins were dipped/cleaned. To be honest, that wasn't the main issue which led me to stop buying from him. It was that he has such a large following that most of his auctions get many bids and therefore end up way overpriced. The red background must put bidders in a trance or something
This seller is doing their thing and winning at it. Can't say anything bad about the seller. Dumb buyers will always exist, the seller doesn't do anything to promote that. Not like centsles.
