How do you display slabs?

I want to get some sort of case for my slabs. Something that I can easily look at them so I don't feel like I'm just locking then away. I was even thinking of something maybe I could line with a little LED strip so when I open it then light shines on the coins.

I think I'll do something home made, any suggestions? Or please share what you do for yours.

My LCS sells plastic stands for slabs. So you can present them without having to lay them flat.

The most spectacular display I ever saw was an elevated acrylic stand that held several proof Coins with an LED source underneath. Walking around the display was like walking around a lighted disco ball.

If you're not worried about showing the collection to everyone who comes to your home, I often thought it would be neat to build a shadow box coffee table to display coins. I did that once with polished agates and covered it all in epoxy.

When I lived in Reno, NV, my favorite watering hole was the Alibi Lounge. The place had no windows, and the only illumination on the back bar came from the liquor steps. The top of each step was made of a translucent plastic with lighting underneath which made all of the liquor bottles glow.

I keep mine locked away. I bring them out once in awhile for my sole enjoyment. I do not display them.

I have some of my coins in a modified cherry display box/case. My sister bought it for me without really knowing what kind of coins I collect. I took the inserts out and lay the holdered coins in the case. All of my more valuable coins are either in a safe deposit box or my safe.

Was the stand a step like stand and was the light in front or how did the light from underneath reach the face of the coin? Can you think of anything similar to compare it to.

I was thinking of maybe a watch display case and pulling out the cushions the watches go on, setting the slabs at an angle and then putting an LED under the lid so it shines down onto the coins and you can see them through the window up top.

Honesty, it was several years back when I saw it. The coins were elevated maybe 8”-10” above an LED light on a simple clear acrylic stand. I wish I could think of something to compare it to. I’ll think on it some and see if I can figure something to relate The setup to.

You can buy little acryllic holders that will angle the slabs.

Wizzard sells LIGHTHOUSE stuff that is very nice, see-through boxes for your top-of-the-line stuff.

A lighted hutch, atergiere (sp.?), or even a shelf (glass ?) on a wall all make good display modules.

This would be ideal because it would be easy to swap coins out, and the LED strip would fory nicely underneath the lid. But $150 is not ideal lol
