I got this coin in a collection from a friend who’s grandpa gave it to him and found this coin of which I don’t know much about. Every penny is in a protective holder. This one seems to be a clipped on from mint. You can see the patina on the cut. Another thing is this has been in this case for more than 40 years. You can also see another slight mark on the top of the edge of the coin. Please tell me what you think. Thank you everyone’s
Nice.. That looks to be a Double Clipped Planchet. One minor and one major. Some may argue that it is actually the Blakesley Effect but it is not. It's the way the upraised rim is missing on the minor clip which I know would make it a second clip.
Your coins are in protective holders to...protect them. Fingerprints really degrade the value. Slow down and be careful
I also have a penny that is a 1944 wheat penny that has an error on the liberty. The L and I kinda look like IIB
