Qestions about 2010 ATB Quarters.

Hello all, MeowtheKitty here. Meow has a few questions about some US Mint packaged set for 2010 ATB quarters. Meow knows that the Mint Set had special satin coins in them, that are different from the circulated coins. Meow has found two other types of sets issued by the US Mint, and was wondering if both, none, or one of them had satin quarters or not. One comes in a shiny black sleeve, and the other in a large white envelope. Meow is fairly sure the white envelope one has normal looking quarters, But is not sure about that glossy black one. Meow has read a few articles about it, but was still unsure as to what types of quarters they contained. So out of all the types of sets, how is a cat supposed to know what type of quarter in is them?

There are Mint sets
Quarter Mint sets
Shiny black sleeve Quarters sets
and white enveloped quarter sets.

Also about the satin finish quarters; Meow thinks they where the only ATB quarters like that. And after the first year of ATBs, they stopped making them that way. Wonder why they did that?

And speaking of ATB quarters still; Meow has noticed special S mint versions of the ATB quarters that are not proofs. Are those a good buy? Meaning do they have value, or the potential to have good value? And where can you find the mintage numbers for these S mint, non proof quarters?

Meow figured everyone knows what those packaged sets look like.

 

The satin finish Mint Sets which began in 2005 turned out to be a real bust because the finish on the dies did not last long enough. The Mint could do nothing more with them except use them for business strikes.

How are we to know that they are, or are not, OGP? Some of them could have been created by private businesses.

Here are pictures of the black glossy folder, and the white enveloped set. These where taken off ebay auction listings.

 

Meow did not think about that. That they could not be US Mint issues. But both set/envelopes say US Mint on them.

 

Meow was considering buying something like these. But wanted to be sure what Meow was getting before pouncing on them. Like those iridescent little frogs; Look very pretty, but are very bitter tasting. Not worth biting on again.

 

There are tricksters out there who are very sneaky in the way that they advertise their stuff. For example, a sleazeball (not to be confused with a hairball) might say something like, "Coins from the US Mint". Of course they're from the US Mint! The US Mint is the only place where they can be legally made. That doesn't mean that they were packaged by the US Mint.

So what do think of the pictures? Legit or not? Meow is considering buying one like those eventually.

 

I vote the the Black box US mint OGP.
But I didn't see a poll ?? Where's the poll ?

 

The black case seems legit. So does the (beige) envelope, but I've never seen plastic like that used by the Mint, especially with staples on it.
