Penny error partial plating?

    1981 was before plating. It's just environmental damage.

    It looks like it might have had another penny sitting on top of it across LIBERTY for quite a long while as it toned on the unprotected area.

  7. I have found them with bubblegum or some kind of adhesive tape. Leaves a mark
    very similar.
    It is a neat find. Could call it your "eclipse" coin. Now that's a notoriety.
