PCGS photo saps most of the luster, but here it is:

PCGS has two of this grade, none higher. NGC has one of this grade, none higher.

It's not exactly my favorite coin design. It's flat without much detail. However, it does fit within the parameters of my silver crown collection, and it is also a good example of the simplified, modernist design of many postwar Western European coins. And the price was right. :)

I do like the obverse of those coins. I have yet to find one that meets my criteria - at or near melt. Hopefully some day. Congrats on a good looking coin.

Nice caduceus but please educate me, what is it or what am I missing? o_O I mean it looks to be a coin from Belgium but what else should I know? ;)

Thanks... I prefer the obverse too. This was several multiples of melt, but still below what you'd expect for, say, a U.S. half of this grade & mintage.

Edit: According to NGC, the rampant lion is actually the obverse, with the helmeted head the reverse. So I guess I prefer the reverse!

    Belgium 1954, 50 francs, silver, a shade smaller than a U.S. half. MS-66. Mintage 3.2m.
