$20.00 including postage or did they tack a bunch on for that? $20 is a retail price but someone had to pay for the slabbing. i would own that coin. -Steve
Shipping was a bit much. But I did choice to get it over night and insure it. Total shipping 16 bucks. lol So I pretty much paid for it to be slabbed. It was either that or wait until I could go to the post office and pick it up. Becuase I'm gonna be away for a few days as of Sunday. But that included 3 other coins. A ANACS MS65 1947 S $6.00 bucks Jefferson Nickel and a ANACS MS66 1942 D Doudling on the date Lincoln $30.00 bucks. I didnt want to spent more then a 100 total being as it was me first time useing EBAY in over a year. I should take pics of the pennys date, the doubling is in the 42 off to the right of the 42. Won all by best offers. I Offered on the penny and nickel and asked about the dime and the seller said make him a offer. So I thought , OK ill offer him 20. Thinking he would counter offer a little higher. But he excepted to my surprize. Then the guy turned around and sent me a Franklin half. Saying on the invoice. Thank you tossed this half in for ya because the shipping turned out to be so high. Now thats a good dealer if you ask me. Im guessing thats not a standerd on the bay.
Wow, that's amazing. It's actually good buisness too because I'm sure you'll be back to visit his auctions or store again, I know I would.
Good post. I learned something. I thought FSB pertained to the middle bands only BUT because of this post I went to the PCGS site. They said the top & bottom bands have to be split also. Thanks, Leadfoot.
Not quite kanga. You misread the info - "Full Bands Term applied to Mercury (Winged Liberty Head) dimes when the central band is fully separated (FB). There can be no disturbance of the separation. Also applicable to Roosevelt dimes that display full separation in both the upper and lower pair of crossbands on the torch."
I like that coin regardless of what anyone says. If you want my honest, real opinion, you should send it to me for a closer look. No return, naturally.
FWW, here is what ANACS says on their site: What superlative designations does ANACS use when it grades a coin? The following designation will be listed on the ANACS label whenever appropriate for coins graded MS or PF-60 and above, except for AU and better coins as noted: Designation- Description- Notes - Update FSB - Full Split Bands - Mercury and Roosevelt Dimes - Full Split Bands not designated on Proofs, save with reholders It seems as if the coin in question, being graded AU, would automatically be disqualified from being FB by ANACS. I believe that the policy of PCGS is different, and I also seem to recall some difference in how each defined the term....
NGC says the following: In a similar manner, the designations ‘FS’ (full steps) on Jefferson Nickels, ‘FB’ (full bands) on Mercury Dimes, ‘FH’ (full head) on Standing Liberty Quarters and ‘FBL’ (full bell lines) on Franklin Halves are all important supplements to a coin’s numerical grade. For Morgan Dollars and selected other coin types, the designations ‘PL’ (prooflike) and ‘DPL’ (deep prooflike) may appear. These indicate only the degree of reflectivity evident in a coin’s fields and make no implication as to other qualities associated with proof coins, such as frosted devices and superior sharpness. NGC’s use of ‘DPL’ is equivalent to other grading services’ employment of ‘DMPL.’ These abbreviations mean the same thing, and their alternative use is merely a matter of semantics. All of the above designations are applied automatically to qualified coins at the time of grading and at no additional cost. NGC certified coins that are lacking such designations may be submitted to NGC for possible addition of them at a small fee. IIRC, They (NGC/PCGS/ANACS) will all identify the coin as FB during the normal grading process without paying for or asking for the service. How each define the FB term is a different story....and probably best left for someone who is a more serious collector of these coins than I...Mike
PCGS says: Full Band (FB) - Mercury Dimes (Lady with wings); On the back of the coin is two columns, in-between the columns, in the middle, there are two lines connecting the columns. Both lines should be completely across from left to right, without any breaks, marks or gaps. Note: PCGS may designate in grades of 60 and higher. p.s. I'm still looking for the columns.
you know I will. I dont like buy from just anyone. So im sure i will be buying from that seller again. Hes got a few coins i want really bad, but there out of my price range for the time being. As well they are listed as buy it now or best offer. So they hopefully will still be there when I get back.
