Check this coin out. Not the strongest strike. http://cgi.liveauctions.ebay.com/22...006QQitemZ160210393560QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Has anyone bought from this auction house in the past?:hammer:
Bowers & Merena are a highly respected organization. Be aware that auction houses such as theirs generally have a high buyer's fee (20%) plus S&H. And as a personal preference, I stay away from coins graded MS-60, -61 & -62. There's generally some major distracting marks to cause an uncirculated coin to be graded that low. Many people prefer an AU-55 or -58 to a low grade MS- coin. I try to start at MS-63 for UNC coins. They often appear better looking AND save you money. That being said, yes, I have several MS-61 & -62 coins (I have to be truthful.)
thanks for the commets, I don't know if I am in love with the coin enough to buy, but had never seen this auction house on ebay before and wanted some feedback. I'd first look to see if they have there own site with a lower buyers fee before I'd bid on ebay.
You would also be well-advised to either view the coin yourself or have the coin viewed for you. Purchasing coins from auction -- particularly those with NO return policy -- based solely on a photo is a game fraught with risk, and one that you will likely come out on the short end of. Respectfully submitted....Mike
Ebay is trying to pick up some new Auction houses since Heritage started to do their live bidding their self. With the huge fees that ebay charges its no wonder why Heritage left them.
with B&M charging a 20% buyers fee on top of the sale price in addition to the 8-12% sellers fee, I think they can absorb ebays fees with no problem Over a 1000 now, Maybe Peace dollars are finally getting some respect. I think its time to break up my two Peace albums. LOL
