US coinage, esp. gold is very beautifull upto 1933. But the classic Quarter/ Half/ Eagles are really NICE!!!!!! I guess, I am different from most collectors, I have stuff from 27 centuries of coinage, and like all of them. Well, not really, I cannot stand modern "colored" coins/ kitch themes like "Superman", and modernistic designs.

I got it from Auction. Actually 99 percent of my collection (800+) AV coins where thru auctions. I seem to be rather lucky in getting really great material in after auction "Unsold" lots sales. It seems these types of coins have really come down in price in past ten years, as most US coinage. Its been the exact opposite with World coins, esp. high quality rarities.

Both....AV is designation for "gold coins" AU=Aurum is Periodic table symbol for gold.
