I've found some 1964 D mint mark Kennedy halves that I've heard or more valuable than others. I've attached a pic. Can anyone tell me why they are more valuable? 001.JPG 002.JPG

That coin is worth 50 cents—it is a circulated Kennedy half. More valuable than what other coins? There were 156 million minted—it is very common.

    1964 & 1964-D Kennedys are 90% silver, whereas 1965 - 1970 Kennedys are only 40% silver.

Silver melt value on your 1964-D Kennedy is $5.75 at current silver price of $15.91/oz.

You may have heard about the accented hair variety, but that would be a Proof coin, not a business strike.

I'd buy all the legitimate business strike 1964 P or D Kennedy Half Dollars you wanted to sell for 50 cents each.

Common yes, but worth 50 cents? Come on now, it's worth silver melt value. Try not to give the noobs bunk info.

It has a face value of 50 cents. In that condition, that is what it is worth. Won’t buy a drink from a soda machine.

Unless you’ve got a load of them to be melted, or your own a smelter, nobody is paying melt value for a handful of circulated JFKs.

Thanks gentlemen. I am indeed new to this, but I'm having fun and in my mind that makes all the difference.

Ignore the troll comments about it only being worth 50 cents. Yeah, that's the face value but the silver content is worth 5.75 dollars. Will you get that full 5.75 if you tried to sell it? Most likely no, but you would get more than 50c.

In my opinion, it is worth 6 dollars because it is 90% silver. I hope that this helps. coinflation.com gives you updated melt values for silver coins like the ones that you have based on the current spot price.

So Morgans are worth $1 because they have a face value of $1 and most are insanely common?

Please stop giving false information about the Kennedy. It has a monetary value of 50 cents as that is it's face value, and just like a junk common date Morgan you would be foolish to ever sell it for face value.

How many of those do you have to sell for 50 cents and where can I place my order from you?

IMO Morgans are worth less than a dollar because they are ugly as sin :p

Not knowing something doesn't make one ignorant, but doubling down on misinformation does.

Don't feel bad about asking questions

Are you telling me that my "half-dressed" half dollar :shame: is only worth 50c? Why have I been holding onto it for all these years? :banghead::banghead:
