Hi everyone, I found a nice variety and just wanted to share it with you all. 1988-d Lincoln cent reverse transition.
i haven't checked the details but it looks like this I think http://www.error-ref.com/transitional-reverse-1988-1c-with-reverse-of-1989/ but OPs coin's initials per the link of error-ref kinda looks like it
Yes that is it. By my cross reference research. I believe it is rvd-601. I have not narrowed stage die but think may be die 1 looking at the Wexler site.
The 89 reverse on the 88 obverse. Initials fg. I believe correct terminology is the reverse transition variety.
You bet.will do. Still getting used to the forum. I have not posted a lot of my stuff on here. Thought I would start for other great knowledge.
Affimative on 88 w/89 reverse. The story I heard was Denver ran out of 88 reverse dies sometime in Dec and an 89 reverse die was used to finish out the production run. Nice find...I am still hunting one...Spark
Thanks Spark. I was hoping to get a bit more from the group , but seems this variety is not to popular or most i chat with don't really know of. I was looking on pcgs and its disappointing to see a coin graded on there with this that is clearly not the variety. I mean who am i to question, i feel it just kinda blurs the true rarity to date of known examples. i know its still very low for the D. just my opinion , but the are the professionals, i am far from it, not even close. This was a lucky find , but i guess most are. Thanks for the reply Spark, still trying to figure out what to do. I am selling , just need to determine how and what. From what I can tell , there has never been one sold, and i read that the few who have will not let them go.
Looks to be several on eBay , even a couple slabbed by ANACs. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1988-1c-Li...m=282948141951&_trksid=p2047675.c100008.m2219
The Denver's are the ones that nobody is selling because from what i Know , which is not alot there were not to many Denver's because they caught it fast. ( Not fast enough I am going to take another look on ebay though to see. thanks , i like to hear from the experts in this forum. I appreciate it. Always trying to learn and get more educated.
I do see some Denver's as well. Pcgs pop report does show one 66, so that may be the one on there. i have to do research on the ones out there that are know. Thats the fun to me though as well..
Do you know how often pcgs is up to date. Im wondering cause the rb63 they have listed looks nothing like the one listed on ebay to me. I am very new to pcgs so just curious if you new how they updated their site.
