Well to start , they are horrible pics. I cant seem to steady my hand enough and get up close with micro.
This is actually a Denver minted coin , and the mint mark is missing, you will see a faint lines of the D, but its not there. This has the 3 in the date doubled, if you look you will see the middle serif split and it continue down. There is also doubling IGWT. And at 2 oclock obverse you will find the exact impression of the "o" in of the united states of america. There is some other oddities on the reverse within the columns and what i believe is doubling on some of the letters.

Looks like a worn Die Strike which would cause deterioration doubling.
Mint Mark could of been removed.
    Nothing major.

Please keep your thread titles simpler.

    The area looks damaged IMHO.
How would you know it wasn't?

naked eye it looks like it a Philadelphia, under loop you will see where the D was suppose to be.

yes your right, i do not . Great answer. if you saw this in hand you would never think it was touched. I was coin roll hunting and picked up a couple rolls at a local bank. what i got out of them was very nice 63's about 6 of them. This is one of them. and one 64.

if you look at the last pictures , you will see at an angle where there is no material damage or area damage as it flows with the rest of coin . Again this is my opinion, and yours is valued and respected , everyone's is , thus why sought you real pros.:)

It is a normal 63 Philly minted cent.
    With some die deterioration.
There are many just like yours.

well i am sorry. a 1963 -D with a missing mint mark to me is , one of a kind, i have never seen or heard of another.:) and with the Doubling of the 3 . I dont know ,if you cant find another in this variety then i look at as one of a kind. but yes its not the 1955 but could be just like it.

It isn't missing a mint mark. It is a Philly minted cent. It is just one of over 750 million. It's also not a doubled die. As others have stated above me, it was struck with a worn die. Plain and simple.

gotcha , well i need to continue the research then for my education, as i have spent hours on hours researching and comparing like coins from 63 both p and d and found nothing like it. And every detail in comparison matched Denver and not P. I will continue my research education. You guys are always awesome in your knowledge. Im going with my gut and think its what i see. but I could be wrong

  20. Double Die

Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

I'm confused... you give us self proclaimed iffy pics to make a determination and then don't like the answers? With all the responses and info you received, I reckon you know what you need to do for the next time?

    Happy hunting!
