Hello, Long time lurker - first time poster. I needed some help ID'ing the coin below. I have a strong feeling it IS a type 2 (based on Florida more then the islands) but have thought I had a winner before to only find out it was not a winner at all (an "error cent" that had been altered). So, coin community, please take a look and let me know what you think. Cheers, Guy
Why is it so shiny? Is it a 72P? Looks more like a proof in your pictures. Please provide pictures of the whole coin. EDIT: I believe all 72S Proof Ikes are type 2. What you need to find is a T2 Philly Ike like mine below:
You are correct - it is a proof (in the brown case) and has the S mark. It is shinny as it is in the case. See pic's below. I have been looking and didn't see any info that the mint mark made a difference. I think I am about to find out other wise :-(
Boooooo! Oh well, thanks to both of you so much for the info (bad or good). I will continue to hunt for winners. I have the fever now and the "Strike it Rich with pocket change" book in hand. Cheers, Guy
Welcome to the neighborhood! There are plenty of books that are useful while you are learning about numismatics. Unfortunately, "Strike It Rich...." is not one of them. Chris
