    What you don't understand

Seeing as how I am getting bashed for charging a 10% restocking fee on my ebay listings I though I would help you understand a few things that you might not of though of.

One tdec100 or Brilliantcents on ebay doesn't even offer a return policy on his coins so he doesn't realize what time and effort takes place when getting a coin back.

Two just go look at the item that he returned and is calling recolored. 370016454150
This coin is 100% original and I never touch it with any type of chemical, liquid or foreign substance other then the plastic flip I shipped it in.

Three there are alot of collectors on ebay that are getting to the point where they do not want to let the dealer make any money for their time and effort. I have a brock and mortor store and go to a coin show almost every weekend to hunt down nice coins to sell on ebay. I work over 50 hours a week and make a small living doing this. I am sure there are many of you that make far more then I do but I won't complain as I don't need much.

Look at my feedback before you judge me and call me a rip off. I have over 4300 members that have left positive feedback and 34 that have left nagative feedback. I am sorry I can not please everyone but I try and deal fairly with everyone and hope they will do the same.

tdec1000 did not communicate with me on the transaction other then saying that he will be sending the coin back. I did not respond to that email but I refunded his money with in one hour of getting the coin back. The restocking fee is clearly stated at the bottom of the listing where ebay provides you a place to list the return policy. No it is not in the listing but it is where it should be. Then tdec1000 with no communication leaves me a negative feedback because he believes the coin was recolored. ( I assure you it was not though )

What this comes down to is that tdec1000 wants to have no responsibilty for his bids on ebay. If he overpays for an item it is the sellers fault and the coin will be shipped back to the seller. The total restocking fee was an amazing $6.11 so how much am I rippng people off. I get on average of 1 return per 1000 coins I sell.

My personal opinion of who is really ripping of who would be that ebay is ripping us all off. I pay on average of just over $1,000 every month to ebay and paypal and I only sell about $10,000 to $12,000 worth of coins. That is a very large percentage that they take.

What it comes down to is before you bid on anything. Read the sellers feedback, check for his return policy. If you don't like it don't place a bid because it is the seller that openlly enters the contract and it is the seller that leaves him self open to let any stranger bid on his items with out even having the chance to see what kind of buyer they are.

There are good seller, and there are bad sellers. There are good buyers and there are bad buyers.

I should of mentioned what. The restocking fee. Look at the listing it is in plain black and white text at the bottom of the screen.

I belive my feedback shows that I am an honest seller. If you start to look at the items that negative feedback was given you will see that more then half are on grab bag like items that are listed as a BIN. These coins are sold at random and purchased in large groups so I can not say what will be found just as I state in the listing. I am sorry that some buyers are so dense that they actually believe I am going to sell $300.00 worth of coins for 12 bucks.

While I really do not like the idea of a restocking fee, I have to give Wms a little credit for coming here to calmly defend his position.

I suggest that Wms and Tdec talk a little further and maybe mutually withdraw feedback.

Yes, WMS has come in to defend, that is a plus...we hear so many who do not give a 2nd side to the story. I still believe that the feedback speaks volumes, I would run the other way after looking at that feedback, and most certainly not claim it shows how honest I am,lol.

Most buyers look at feedback in black and white. With coins grades are opinions and they are subjective. It is a very tricky area and there are lots of grey in between. tdec1000 believes the coin is recolored and I do not. I can honestly say that I did not recolor the item and do not believe it was done before I gained possesion but I can not say that 100%. this is a simple disagreement that my reputation has to take a ding for and in a few days tdec1000s will be whipped clean. I do not think this it fair.

If tdec1000 would of talked to me about the situation before leaving a negative feedback as soon as he got his refund of 90% there could of ( and still can be ) something worked out.

If ebay sticks to the new policy of no negative feedback for buyers this will greatly hurt the coin section on ebay as many honest dealers will just sell their items else where and it is the whole community that will suffer.

I have to agree with you Arizona-J. The toolhaus feedback link you provided shows some serious character issues/problems which this individual has repeatedly displayed and after considering all factors (being a 10+ year Ebay buyer and seller, same handle -- greenfdhog) I smell an honest dumb crook ...

    Cheers
    Ben

Well I am glad that you think the the photo is nice.

    item # edited

I took the photo again so please go ahead and compare them. The coin is pictured and that is all. I don't photo shop them or adjust the color. You must have been having a bad day when you got the coin because it is actually very nice.

I agree with you TOTALLY!!! Look at my auctions if you time and notice how on EVERY PROBLEM coin I make it a point to POINT out the flaws if you will. I don't want folks getting stuck with a problem coin.

I probably should put a return policy in stone, it's just that I never really needed to. My customers are all repeat buyers for the most part and most are very very happy. Tom

Ben you only have 650 +FB and only 145 of those are from being a seller. As I seller of alot of items it is ery hard to please everyone. As my FB shows I have recived negative feedback from only 34 people and have recieved positive feedback from over 4300 people. statistically the odds are in your favor that if you do purchase something from me you would be happy with it. Also this not showing that I have recieved over 5200 + Fbs when you add in multiple purchases from the same buyers.

I use a restock fee to prevent buyers from just winning the coin and then figuring out if they want the coin or not. I am not in business to ship coins all over just to let collectors look at it and then decide if they want it. If any of you actually had to make a living selling items on ebay you would understand the situation alittle better. I guess you all have government jobs with a good pension though.
