Options for Displaying Apollo 11 Commems? (Newbie-ish)

    After a long absence from the hobby, I recently picked up an Apollo 11 $1 silver proof and the clad half-dollar commemorative set (with the enhanced uncirculated Kennedy), and would like advice for how to display this set in a way that makes it visible but reasonably protected from toning/clouding.

    I've heard that keeping them in the OGP is a no-no for this, and it's not ideal for displaying them in my situation, anyway. Because of the OGP horror stories I've seen on a few coin forums, I'm currently storing the capsuled coins in several layers of Ziploc brand bags inside a (new) polypropylene (#5) food-storage container while I figure out a more permanent solution, but feel free to let me know if I'm being uber-paranoid going to this length this soon, or if what I'm doing is likely to accelerate the toning process instead of inhibit it. I'll admit that, when I last collected coins I didn't know what I was doing, and I feel like I know even less now (I'm certainly more confused), so I'm going in to this with a hope to learn along the way, improve my existing coin collection's storage conditions as I go, and use that knowledge for any coins I get later.

    In any case, back to the Apollo coins...The room I would like to display them in stays fairly constant as far as environment goes (temps in summer reach at highest ~80F, lowest in winter ~71F), natural light is low (basically nonexistent), and they will be on a painted wood-veneer cabinet where I have a few other moon-landing-related items. Humidity is also fairly low.

    I've looked at a few coin folders and things, but I'd really like something similar to a shadowbox or something that I can actually see the coins in when I look at my cabinet. I'm not sure what to look for, though, and I don't want something that just looks nice but in reality will just do more harm than good.

    Sorry for the novel-length first post, guys, but I'm looking forward to getting some much needed advice about this. Thanks!

    Hey, thanks for the help, dwhiz! Looks like what I need. One thing I'm wondering is how the 8 1/8"-wide frame would handle all three of the coins. Do you think the domed ones would have to be spaced so the membrane will have room to "tighten" back down on the next coin? I might just go with three separate frames anyway, but I'm wondering if one frame might work.

    @FlashInThePlanchet
    I would leave the coins in original mint capsules. I put 3 50 mm in one.

    Took a day off today so I am not at my office to snap a photo. Being the simplistic fellow that I am, I have the uncirculated and proof halves and dollars side by side on my display shelf. They propped up nicely in the government box. I rather like the way they display propped up in the mint boxes.

    Today's OGP is much different from back in the day. Keep them in the coin capsule and you should have no problems.

    Yeah, no intentions of removing them from the capsules! With my luck, I'd send them skittering across the room, anyway. :facepalm: The capsules themselves are curved, so that's why I was asking.

    That's good to know. I'll probably try displaying them in the packaging long enough to see if I like that, or would rather frame them like dwhiz suggested. Either way would be interesting, I think.

    Appreciate the suggestions, everyone. It's been extremely helpful, so thank you all.
