First 2 1981 penny's I've been able to find(roommate found the one labeled 2), and looked up wheatback penny's for a friend. Seeing the term error amd remembering the marks that look like label penny 1 looks to be struck twice, I pulled them. Just a curiosity, number two to me looks as if there is a skull in the steps of the Memorial.
My plan, with them being the year of my birth, along with penny's the years of my siblings births, is to run them thru one of them machines that flatten them with imprinted design or saying.
Before I do that, my luck doesn't account for find it a penny worth more than a penny, but want to make sure it's not work 75 to 10,000$.

1981 Cent is a Misaligned Die Strike not a double strike.

1981 D is normal. Not an actual skull. Just circulation wear/damage.

    You have nothing valuable.

You can squish your Pennies (not penny's)

Welcome to the neighborhood @Kevin Gorham !

They would be called "Elongated Cents" in numismatic parlance.

Thank you. There was another thread someone posted several webpages, for the use of learning how pennies were minted, and im.assuming about a few things I've not a clue about. You all were pretty excited for him for finding an actual double striked penny?
Just wanted to say thank you for those postings there, for the little bit that I've looked at so far, my interest is certainly piqued. Have a good morning.

There is a difference you need to understand.
A double strike is a coin that was struck more than once. This would be a Mint Error.

A Doubled Die is a coin that was struck just once but with a Die that the numerals, letters and image were doubled during the creation of the Die. This would be a Variety.

You probably saw the 1995 Doubled Die Cent. That is the Variety.
