I've notified a particular eBay seller that he / she is selling counterfeits and, instead of even asking why I think the coins are fake, he / she instead blocked me from further communication. I notified eBay, "Despite repeated notifications, this seller continues selling counterfeits with impunity", but nothing has yet been done. Seller has the following listings at this time . . . https://www.ebay.com/itm/1920-PILGR...h=item591f968576:g:ZIAAAOSw4ARcYlwj:rk:1:pf:1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1926-Calif...h=item591f7a8a30:g:GL8AAOSwyHJcYl3b:rk:2:pf:1 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1925-Stone...h=item591f72e502:g:8qsAAOSwm1VcYl48:rk:3:pf:1 Obviously, by blocking me, the seller has ensured I cannot continue in my efforts to convince him / her to take those listings down. I'm hoping the seller will grow weary of multiple do-gooders pointing this out. Are there others here who feel qualified and would like to take up this cause?
At one time there was a way to "Ask the Seller" questions about the item. Anyone could read the question and the answer. I don't know if it still exists. If so, you can ask: "Why are you selling this counterfeit for so much money?"
You're right, but it is not a publicized reply by default. The seller has to choose to make the reply public. Even so, this seller did not even reply to me . . . he / she simply blocked me from attempting any further communications. That's why I'm asking if others might take up my cause, as I cannot get a message through to the seller any longer.
The Pilgrim and Monroe fakes are showing up on Listia quite often but they are being advertised as replicas.
Only two left by the time I got there since they withdrew the first one...I reported the two, for all the good that would do. Check the only review and look at the one that is there. When I go to the "see item" it brings up another one that I looked at and noticed the seller there says ...
Wish these types of sellers would realize the money they could make by putting only half as much effort into an honest endeavor.
The e-mail I received said it was deleted. With all the threads out in the open about counterfeits I didn't realize they had another secret forum. Do you have to be a supporter to opt into that one as well?
The answer is above. Additionally, if you know what the genuine coin looks like, coins as these can be detected in a few seconds with just an image. On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being a state-of-the-art fake that passes a TPGS (for a short time) as genuine; and 1 being something that does not even look like a round piece of metal, these coins are in the 3-4 range if you know what the genuine looks like.
