You photo looks like a small date. You can compare here. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1960smalldate.html
That's were I found it, just thumbing through all the varieties. Quite interesting and informative site. Pennies are my favorite collectible. So if that is a small date, what would be an estimate on value? I bought the Red Book through advice on this forum, but every time I say "Red Book says it's worth x", I get told I shouldn't use the Red Book. I do also have the Blue Book.
Yes, everyone will tell you that the Red Book is jam-packed full of useful information. It's just that the price guides are not part of that useful information. Chris
You would need to have an idea of the grade, And past sold auctions. The date of sale is going to be important because the prices will trend up and down.
OK, so you're looking at most likely a small date that is in a proof set. Does anyone have any idea what it might be worth? I just don't have a clue .. .
Check sold auctions on eBay. That should give you a good idea. Don’t go by what people are trying to sell them for.
If you have the original mint packaging including envelope and COA, the proof set is worth about $30 more or less, depending on condition/grade. The small date cent alone is worth about $10-15 depending on condition/grade. Pristine coins are worth more. As usual condition/grade is all important.
These proofs came in a cellophane envelope. It looks like it has been removed from the original packaging. Is that right?
my 2017 Blue Book says $9.50 - that's a fairly representative offer price from a dealer for a top quality proof coin - keeping the whole set together would yield a better price than if the individual coins are 'busted out' - eBay sells slabbed PF67-68 examples for $15-20
I find this site has some fairly realistic values. https://www.usacoinbook.com/coins/small-cents/lincoln-memorial-cent/
