Weakly struck Liberty on business strike only not proof. Looks small. The high 7 and the tight curl on the 9.
I bought a 1970 Proof Set today. I thought I was buying one with a large date cent (at least that was the way it was presented to me as). But it looks small to me. I don't have a loop or a good camera with me, just the magnifier on my phone. Small or large date? View attachment 887374 [/QUOTE] Straight line all the numerals have the same height. When I ordered proof sets from the mint in 70, I ordered 4 sets. All turned out to be small dates. Sold 3, kept one which I still have. Only discovered I had small dates much later. Of course that was when I sold the 3. To this day, I always look for them even though I moved on from US to a wider view of the world with coins of all ages. Even when I get change when I'm out shopping or such, I still look at my pocket change. A great hobby.
Numismedia FMV lists these proof/mint set prices. Maybe not true retail but certainly some indication of relative value. 1970 S Proof $10 1970 S Proof - 1¢ sm date $85 1970 S Proof - 10¢ w/o mm $780 1970 Mint P-D-S $19 1970 Mint P-D-S - 1¢ sm date $63
