I recently found out that pre 1933 coins were such a great deal. I always assumed they were like $10,000 each without ever looking into them. I also recently decided that I wanted to start buying some gold. I inherited around 100 lbs of silver in old coins, commemorative coins, proofs, etc when my grandfather passed away far too young 18 years ago (miss him dearly), but was never into collecting coins myself. I've always found gold interesting though. Well fast forward, and now I'm in my 30s and I finally decided to jump on the bandwagon of gold and silver coin collecting to carry on the family tradition! I am very happy with what I have so far and am looking forward to being a lifetime collector of these fine pieces of history and metal. I also wanted to go ahead and share with you all what I have gotten so far. I have a nice 12 coin display case coming in the mail for the US type set, and also a nice 12 coin display case coming for the Mexican type set, so I may do a second type set of the Mexican coins to fill up all the 12 spots I then also decided to start buying old European BU gold coins, because they are interesting as well, and have lower premiums than the Mexican coins and especially the smaller American coins. Just have 4 now, but figure I'll just keep picking them up on the cheap as nice BU examples pop up for sale. I think I may do another US type set as well, and then just start buying the regular 2018/2019 Gold Eagles and Maples to get a little closer to spot price for my overall collection over time. Anyways, enough rambling. I love the collections and knowledge here on this forum, and I'm glad that I can now contribute. I hope you all love what you see!
Gold is so pretty, no matter which denomination or country. Maybe you should contact Parker Schnabel of "Gold Rush" to see if he'll sell you an ingot. Chris
Quite a beautiful selection of gold. I have some sovereigns, roosters, a swiss helvetica, and a couple maple leafs myself. I would love to add a Mexican 20 or 50 pesos to my world gold set.
Those are pretty cool looking. Unfortunately they are probably all out of my price range which is melt
I see you have the French "Rooster". When I saw that design, I knew I had to have one. 1912 Rooster by JPeace$ posted Feb 5, 2019 at 8:46 PM 1912 Rooster reverse by JPeace$ posted Feb 5, 2019 at 8:46 PM
Very nice! Yea I didn't really know anything about the French coin. I have to say it is one of my favorites! I can see myself getting many multiples of it.
Yep. I'm jealous also, as stated by another member. I can't afford gold. Anybody out there that would like to contribute a gold coin to my old guy collection? LOL LOL
