hello everyone I received this Kennedy Half Dollar through a coin roll search. It appears to have been struck through wire. I was told to send it to mr Wexler. I contacted mr wexler who said he does not do this type of error. I want to get it evaluated and authicated as a error. Should I or should I not? What’s the best place/company to turn to? Cost? I’m just trying to decide what to do. I would appreciate any help. Thank you
It's too thick, imo, to be struck thru wire. Probably thru a 'thread-like' object. And, any authentication service would just put 'Struck Thru Obv.' on it, because it's just about impossible to determine what caused it. I would think that only ANACS would be worth sending it to - the other two services would charge well more than the coin is worth.
That is what mr Wexler told me. He sent me to another person but that was three weeks ago and I haven’t herd back.
I think you would be wasting your money getting it attributed even at ANACS or ICG. I have a 2006-P Kennedy with a strikethrough that I have owned ever since I got it in a bag from the Mint. Put yours in a Saflip or something similar and enjoy it for what it is. Chris
