I asked him a question about NAC yesterday morning. He has yet to reply. I have reported about 100 of his listings where they mention NAC. They pulled about 65 yesterday and about 20 so far today. He still has 12 of his more recent listings left. I am sure that they will go soon, but he appears to have finally caught on that he need to change. None of his last few listings include the word NAC.
I can't understand why this snake oil salesman is allowed to continue duping people. An example is one that is closing today, item 220199371288 an 1908 $5 Indian gold he lists as MS67. In the current issue of The Coin Dealer Newsletter (Grey Sheet), an MS65 is $17,500....and this publication places conservative values on coins (compared to some magazines and the Red Book). This raises the question is the gold coin cleaned, or is it counterfeit? Who in their right mind would take a coin of that caliber and offer it at a no reserve auction? When I last looked, it had several bids with the high at $380. Bargain or a fraud????

Getting Sued I've been sued before and it's pretty stressful. It sounds like coinmadz keeps a lawyer on retainer and goes after anyone who makes a negative comment. I once got a "free estimate" from a local pest service and elected to use someone else. When he called me back to schedule I told him that we had decided to use another pest service because they were $370 cheaper. About twenty minutes later the guy drove into my driveway and presented me with a bill for $370. He then went to the company handling the closing on my house and told them that he had a lien on my home for $370 and I was forced to pay him in order to sell my house. I was in the military at the time and was being transferred out of the state, so I couldn't delay the closing to sue him. I wrote letters to the local Realtors telling them that this guy charges for his "free" inspections and that they needed to inform their sellers of this before they selected a company for a pest bond. The pest control guy found out about my letters and sued me for "in excess of $50,000". We spent several thousand on lawyers fees before the other guy dropped the case. I had his advertisement and his bill, so he had no chance of winning. The bottom line is that you need to watch it when you deal with a guy like this. They can sue you for any reason and even if you win it can cost you a lot of money.
Does he sue people, or threaten to sue, in order to scare them? Also, if he brings a frivolous lawsuit, he could be out his own attorney's fees, as well as the other party's. Finally, I don't think that a person who conducts himself the way he does would want to end up in court.
I think you guys, think to much. lol Heres my thoughts. Forget the guy. Hes a losser trying to cheat people out of money and as long as he dosnt have yours, then your doing pretty good. On top of that. I thought Id check his auctions out. I dont think to many people if any are actaully falling for his super high up grade's on his home made S#&T slabs. He will get whats coming to him in time im sure. Infact the only way this guy could be shut down is if enough people that have bought from him say (30 to 300) open a class action suite on him. Hes selling a coin marked up a few grade's that the coin isnt buy standards. Now say you put those 30 plus people in with a lawyer. Those 30 plus people can turn around and sue this guy for about 2 or 3 time's if not more then what they each paid for there coin ( pending what the final charge is for each coin. ) But with that said, as long as no one is paying 17,000 bucks for coin only worth say $300. Then he is in the clear. Also theres the whole thing where grading is SUBJECTIVE. That would be his claim. Again the only wayfor this guy to be fully shut down is by a class action. I mean you could all talk about the problem or fix it. Seeing as I dont think anyone here has actually bought anything from this jurko. None of us have a real leg to stand on. All your doing by reporting him over and over again. This is justTeaching him to word things better. In turn making him even more untuchable. I have always said. Let a fool hang himself. This is all just IMO.
I had a customer recently come into the shop with some of these coins. It was sad to have to break the news to him about the quality of the coins. I spent some time showing him PCGS and NGC coins and how they compare. This guy is a crook!
Well, You saw them in person Shortgap can you give us a little more meat? Besides cleaned and overgraded. HOW BADLY were they overgraded? clembo
Regardless of what is reported from that particular group, it is obvious that the seller routinely engages in blatant over-grading, including assigning grades of MS65 to MS67 to numerous coins which are almost uncirculated or low grade unc. and some of which have been cleaned.
He threatens to sue. He has a year to request a court date and he never does, so eventually the case expires. In the meantime he's constantly asking for evidence to support his case, so he's forcing the other guy to go to a lawyer to respond. The guy got out of the pest control business and is now in the pool maintenance business. The last I heard he had charged a coworker $80 for a $6 bag of sand, so he hasn't learned a thing.
Has anyone looked at this guys feedback? Both eBay and Toolhaus show that he has only 3 negatives. Yet I can count 9 individuals who left negatives (11 total feedbacks). Can someone explain why both eBay and Toolhaus show what is apparently the wrong number?
At the time, we just wanted this mess over with. Otherwise I would have sued him to recover the money he extorted from us at closing and the legal fees. In the end it cost him a lot of business. The local realtors took him off their referal lists and he quit doing termite inspections.
I think I can. People who buy coins which are so badly over-graded tend to be extremely unknowledgeable and mistakenly think they are getting bargains. It is far more likely, however, that they are getting bad deals and won't know it until they try to sell the coins. Additionally, it appears that at least some of those who leave negative feedback get threatened and bullied into removing it.
Mark, you did not read my earlier post. I am not questioning why it is so good, but why the summary is not accurate. I have never seen another (at least knowingly) feedback where the total is not the sum of the individual negatives
Sorry, I hadn't seen that post. I'm also sorry that I don't have an answer for you. I remember seeing his so-called 100% positive feedback, despite some negatives, and was confused by that.
