Why are there no "Cleaned" designations in paper money? Could it be because the Treasury used to wash the bills themselves? I wonder because I have seen notes graded that have obviously been cleaned and others that are so dirty, I wonder why they weren't cleaned.
There are but you have to know the TPG standards to see it. A washed note will not receive the PPQ or EPQ or OPQ in the grade.
Is there any way that washing a note could make the color of the serial number ink bleed off into the adjoining paper of the note?
Notes will often note repairs as well, washed, pressed, etc., when graded correctly. Closed pinholes, repaired splits, all sorts of things.
It depends on the grading company used, PMG will still hand out a EPQ Even if the note has some issues, where as PCGS will not, but you Check there standards on there individual websites, and i would Recognize any other TPG,S, as theres PCGS, PMG and the rest, which Standards are so loose you will never know what your getting !
