Hello Friends, Just received this one in mail, any thoughts+ post your own.. 3.88g, 20mm around the portrait and around the face it has some dark tonning....I presume...Strike appears to be relatively sharp, as well as portrait (below vendor pics) I also posted one of my own, again, want to know if dark matter around the portrait -tonning or deposits. thank you.. my picture is quite blurry
Svarog, It's a handsome looking coin, however, I'd be very concerned with the weight . It should weigh closer to 4.00 gm.
Hi Al, thank you for a quick response and kind words- it was silly me and my fat fingers it is actually 3.88gm.. + I am admirer of all your Tetradrachms, btw, I even own 3-4 of yours through HA auctions
Looks like a combination of dirt and deposits , nothing to worry about, leave it as it is , very nice coin, congrats. Here's mine:
@Svarog, lovely coin, great style. Virtually all ancient coins are cleaned and it's usually a good sign if the cleaning is passive, leaving some original "deposits" in the interstices. I don't think the two-tones is objectionable in any way. Here is mine:
Thank you @ Fugio1 - this helps a lot... as I always contemplate if deposits are good thing as those might distract from the coin. I just recently started paying more attention to RR as I was always fascinated with Emperial coinage+ Roman Tetradrachms of Syria and Egypt ...and I do admire your high quality items and ability to pick the ones that capture an eye of a collector.
