Bank notes - Is it with having these Graded? Hello everyone: I am new to Cointalk and I am somewhat a collector of things that are usual and unusual, it just makes life interesting. I currently have a dilemma and I don't know if I should spend the money to have the notes below graded via a site called PMG or a through a member that belongs to it. I have more but here are three things that I want to start with. Can anyone tell me if it would be worth my while to have them graded, and what does that do to the value of a bank note? $20 - Two US Notes one serial number apart, one has a printing error - notice arch overprint where date is left of Jackson’s portrait and the bottom overstrike of the signature also has an issue. Kind of new looking, don’t see creases or folds. I think the black on the back is the ink from when it was printed. $50 - US Note I believe this is an offset error but PLEASE do not quote me on that. My wife picked this up when she was working at a bank because a customer noticed it and did not want it because it looked wrong. It’s pretty much a new note. $1 - Bahama One Dollar bills with consecutive serial numbers - 1974/1984 (35b?) - Signed by governor Allen - We had these left over from our honeymoon which was long ago. They came from a small bank in the middle of Nassau, Bahamas. They are not creased stained or anything. They are crisp and new. As for the photos I did my best with the not so good camera on my phone. I cropped the images and adjusted the lighting and color some only because they appear darker and reddish from my camera. The image also look faded, like some of the serial numbers and so on. I can assure you that they are not. If someone has any input that they can share it would be greatly appreciated. Again I am wondering if I should get them graded? Thank you in advance for your help. —Mark
Ok! The $20's are in great condition. I would send to grade. Don't know if the issue it has is really major. The $50 is a nice Off set printing error. Definitely would send for attribution. Some might say that this can be faked though. The $1.00 Bills are cool but I wouldn't send them to PMG IMHO
Thank you for the feedback on the notes. The only reason I included the Bahama notes is because I see them on of course eBay and other places and the notes seem to be harder to find and popular to a certain degree. If it not worth it then I am ok with that. Thank you again.
I think your $50 note has a ink transfer from wet ink on reverse side of the next sheet being laid on top of it at the mint. Two prints on one side. Could have value as an error. You could post it in Paper Money Forum.
