Yes, but they don't have a whole lot to destroy because they don't make all of the authorized mintage ahead of time. They make up a bunch for the initial offering and then strike more as needed as the orders come in.

20K posts, I've shot off my mouth a lot more then 10,000 times already.

Good to know! Thanks for the info!

That's a whole lot! I guess you've been at it for a while...

Was it the "132 companies 332 production varieties" that was reported as of 12/29/06?

Are those companies striking coins? Independent mints or Gov't mints? And what are the 332 production varieties?

    And what do you research?

I just picked mine up from UPS.
I love these things. Totally, absolutely love their designs.
The 5 ounce coin is amazing. Totally blows away the flat 5 ounces.

They did a great job at dapping these gold, silver 1oz and 5oz coins.

I have been on Cointalk longer than just about anyone else here, except Peter and he doesn't post much. I think I joined something like 7 or 8 days after CoinTalk began. Sept 22, 2002. I was the 66th member.

I collect and gather information about all of the Grading/slabbing services that have existed and all of the different slab/holder varieties they have used. As of 12/29/06 I had identifies 132 different grading services and 332 different varieties of slab/holder used for regular production. Regular production does not include Sample slab. Novelty slabs (all the different custom labels), Advertising slabs, or Presentation slabs.

Currently I am somewhere around 155 companies and over 360 different production slabs

That's OK as long as I don't have to do them over again.

If you hadn't noticed you might be able to add 1 to that. PCGS very recently redid their standard 5 ounce slab to look a lot more like the standard slab and be smaller if you are counting those

So cool! I didn't know it was around that long! We need to make a party for you or something to celebrate this milestone!

On 1/27 I ordered one of each coin except the 2 gold coins.

Well, I just received the non-proof half dollar clad coin in the mail yesterday and ONLY that one. I was hoping to receive all of them so that I can compare them all and return my least favorite ones.

What a disorganized operation! (Don't say it, I know, I was warned....)

I wonder how much more they are going to spend on postage by shipping my order to me one coin at a time. (No wonder the premiums are so high! Waste makes waste!)

Meanwhile, the non-proof clad half dollar coin is meh. I was kind of disappointed. The impression on the coins in my pocket change seem deeper and more pronounced than on this coin. I'm not even bothering taking and posting a picture. And the coin is smaller than I would have expected. I guess my expectations were too high for this $25.95.

I would guess (hope) the proof one is much nicer, and the silver and silver proof, and the 5-ouncer I wont even see until - what is it now? May, July, do I hear next December?

    Awaiting my next shipment...
