I have written acknowledgment from a member of their staff agreeing that the attribute means nothing. But, they need their sponsors' ads.
Agreed! Mike Mezak is forever talking about first day of issue and first strike, among his many lures to reel in Señor El Stupido.
And Señor El Stupido and friends were out in force for 300% premiums on Apollo 11 commemoratives a few nights back. Lots of firsts there, too. That show drives up my blood pressure.
Coin Vault last night had the 5oz Apollo 11 for $999.98. And I think it was first day of issue. Seemed a little much to me. HA.
These "First Strikes" may be valuable to the people who buy them. People collect old ticket stubs to shows and games. Are they valuable? Only to someone who finds them valuable. I've thrown away dozens in my lifetime like they were used up ketchup packets. But someone may find them valuable in some way and to THAT person they are collectible and the person will pay a premium for them. Who is to say they shouldn't be valued? One man's trash is a another man's treasure.
That's a great item! But I'm not talking about World Series games. Stubs to lesser games and shows are just discarded. How many people saved their stubs from non-World-Series games back in 1927? And show tickets, too, were a dime a dozen, especially long before TVs were in every home - the movies and lives shows were common entertainment centers. Do you have the stub from the last movie you saw in a movie theater? I'm sure someone is collecting those. It may have been worthless to you but it's not to the collector.
Look! For $100 you can pay someone to search 20 rolls for you! And you get his branded bracelet and 4 Silver coins, GUARANTEED! What a steal!
I'm guilty of saving lots of memorobilia from concerts and events I attend. I still even have my Long Beach and Ontario show badges from years back.
I even have the tickets from a movie I attended with my ex girlfriend...... I should probably get rid of that. Lol
That has got to be one of the biggest ripoffs I’ve seen in a while. I assume the rolls he’s searching are half dollar rolls. Currently a 90% silver half is worth $5.80 and a 40% silver half is worth $2.37. To not lose money on the $100 option (20 rolls at 20 coins each), you’d need at least 18 90% halves or 43 40% halves. You’d essentially need him to find a whole roll’s worth of 90% halves or two rolls’ worth of 40% halves to not lose money. Are viewers really foolish enough to pay for this? (Sadly I think I already know the answer.) At least he gives you a bracelet to make up for it.
Just when you think people can’t get any dumber...along comes this guy and proves you wrong. If America was Sodom, Lot would be looking for an person who was intelligent...
Or you can hold onto it for 100 years and someone going through your stuff may post it on the equivalent of this message board!
