1983 Penny is this copper ?

    I think I see zinc in the hole at the top of Abe's head.

    You can see the zinc as already mentioned.
    You always have to weigh it as already mentioned.
    2.5g zinc 3.1g copper.
    Generally a copper coin will look more chocolatey. The zinc coins have
    that shine from the copper plating.

    You can see plating blisters at 3:00 on the reverse. That is indicative of a zinc coin

    They didn't strike Copper Cents in 1983 o_O
    So it is a Copper Plated Zinc Cent

    You should ask for the methods of identifying copper plated zinc cents and copper ones.

    Officially they didn't, but copper 1983 and 83 D cents do exist and I am sure you know that.
