What is going on the reverse of the Washington quarters after the State and Territory Commemoratives are finished?
Unless the geniuses in Washington pass a law saying something else, like the County Quarters that someone was pitching a while ago.
Well barring an act of Congress or an executive order or something... in 2010 it will go back to the design as of 1998. The eagle will come back... I'm sure the Mint will find a way to mark the event as something special lol... Just hope we're not going to see some screwy portrait of Washington that year. If you want to change it to something other than Washington, OK... but no forward facing protrait or some such nonsense... still hate what they did to Thomas Jefferson back in 2006, it's just not dignfied.
You can guarantee the mint will give the coin good going over with fresh rehubbed dies. They could pick another picture of Washington, and a different eagle could show up on the back. Other then that, it's back to normalcy with the quarter.
Lol well can never be sure sometimes... a lot of weird rumors have circulated that have been traced back to The Onion where at some point somebody didn't realize it was always meant as a joke.
I don't mind changing the obverse, but I think the eagle on the reverse is one of the best on our coins today...
are you guys really complaining? do you remember how boring our circulating coins were ten years ago? the quarters may not all be winners -- most of 'em are ugly, it's true -- and you may not love the nickel bust, but at least they were a change of pace. v.
