Here's 100 Million Pengo from 1946. Post-WWII, Hungary saw some massive inflation. These are a great series, along with Greece and Zimbabwe for those interested in hyperinflation notes.
Happened upon this while zipping along through the Bay: nice ABNCo proof for reverse of 1888 50 pesos, El Banco Minero; 1888 was the year the bank name was changed from Banco Minero Chihuahuense. This is the reverse, I'm still looking for the face print.
This guy shows up several times on Hungarian hyperinflation notes. I like the dove reverse the best! \ \
Today's new pickup is this abused 10 Legal Tender from 1863. In obvious need of bifurcation repair, why buy it? Well cause dang, it was cheap... and some notes just need a home. This note obviously had a prior tape repair that wasn't good and didn't hold, now it sits in a hold as I decide whether to try my luck using more modern means of assistance...
Today's new pickup is this ragged 1902 $10 from The Guaranty National Bank of Houston. Definitely between uncommon and rare, especially on a high demand state like Texas. Got this for a really low price so considering there aren't a whole ton, and the price was right, let's plug that 12062 Charter with this note. Thanks to imgur for screwing with your layout and making today suck just a little more, playing with the album settings and making them far more of a pain is just what I wanted to do today. Jerks...
Here's another gorgeous Lebanon note featuring the Ruins of Anjar on the obverse. This note is pretty large in size, unusual for its late date of 1986.
Today's new pickup is really starting the area of rapid Nationals acquisition that has not abated... I love a crazy town or bank name, so when I saw this bank, had to have one, it's a 1902 $5 note from the Tootle-Lacy National Bank of Saint Joseph, Missouri. Now yes, it's crazy, but guess what, it's not the only name of this bank - that's right, it also chartered for a while as the Tootle-Lemon National Bank. Well, you know I am going to have to collect them all right...?
Very cool! My mother and her side of the family are from around that area. I have never seen those notes before!
Really? From Tiffin or around the area? I found out about these maybe 7 years ago and have only seen one other $3 come up on ebay. With a random stroke of luck I asked the group at Virtual Coin Show if anyone had some across this note before - one of the members had this and a $5.
Today's new pickup is this really nice design Indiana obsolete from the Madison & Indianapolis Rail Road. Really like how this note comes together, the side bars especially are nice, and everyone likes a train, even a real steam canner like the one one in the center vignette. A bit of loss from gall ink burn and a cut cancel don't retract too much from an otherwise really nice obsolete.
Here's 2000 riel from Cambodia, worth about $0.50 USD. Obverse features the gorgeous Temple of Preah Vihear, right on the Thailand-Cambodia border. Reverse features a farmer lady in a communist paradise.
