  1. One thing that you should notice is the low mintage of all the Kennedy's. I can get my bank to order them. Maybe you need to talk to the manager. They don't usually tell a customer "no". I believe collectors are scarfing them up. They are kept by a lot of folks for keep sakes. Especially us old folks who intend to pass them on. Many got them for birthdays and xmas gifts. Never to be seen again. The General

  3. I went through 1500 dollars in nickels. My find was about yours, so, that is the best luck I have heard about. Some banks never rotate their coins, only inventory and they get shoved further back. No one looks at nickles (me and you do). Happy hunting, The General.

  4. I got two rolls of 64 quarters at a supermarket. Someone ahead of me paid for groceries. I asked the clerk if I could buy them and he said sure.
If I get a silver coin in my change I will always immediately ask the clerk for change for a dollar. If not, grab some gum and make him or her give you the change. That way if there are more I have a good chance of doing even better.

Continuing with my study to determine if my dump bank coin counting machines are accurate, I just tested my 3rd branch. I will continue the study until all 8 branch machines have been checked with known quantities of halves. So far so good:

    Branch 1 - $300 my count vs. $300 machine's count
    Branch 2 - $540 my count vs. $540 machine’s count
    Branch 3 - $600 my count vs. $600 machine’s count

I am so bummed, I went to my bank today to pick up my four boxes of halves, I was excited to learn they had 10 boxes for me. That was exciting until I finished up all 10 boxes with no silver in sight. That is correct 14 skunks, plus 2 from last week. So 16 box skunk in a row. Hope tomorrow is better. Good luck everyone![IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

I got a box from the same bank I've been getting them from but in another town. Through 10 rolls no wheat, one Canadian and a lot of 69-73 which all have a concave reverse to some degree and while I've tried to make them flat I haven't been able to reliably make it happen.

What do you mean, "make them flat"? Pound on them with a hammer?

I have only ever coin roll hunted 1 box of pennies and I found 37 wheat pennies all older than 1940. (My best (and only) find).

    Thank you!
I stopped because the bank teller looked at me like I was a freak when I asked for a box of pennies.

That would definitely be the teller's problem, not yours! For 37 keepers from a box, I'd let the tellers look at me any way they please...

I find that 2- 2" x 2" x 1/4" steel plates and a 2# hammer works great. Just place the penny between the plates and it distributes the blow far more evenly than a regular house hammer. Much quicker than a file too. Just be sure to wear gloves!
