Honest eBay Seller or a new twist on age old scam! What do you think?

I ran across this Seller's Auctions on eBay (see the link below) while searching Buffalo Nickels! The Seller is selling machine wrapped rolls of coins and states that they are unsearched. Since the wrappers are of the type available to anyone and not the same that is generally used by Coin Rolling Service Companies, I feel that this Seller has put a new twist on an age old scam. I am half tempted to bid on a few of these to see if I am correct but won't since I can find better Coin Auctions on which to risk my money!

They look like recent roll types so chances are they have been serched.

The listing says he got rolls from his bank 30 years ago, but he doesn't say that the rolls he's selling were obtained that long ago. Even 30 years ago, if the rolls were wrapped by a bank, there's no reason they would contain only pre-1940 coins and he couldn't know that's what they are unless he had searched them.

Not exactly a scam, but seems misleading.

The guy is selling nothing but rolls.

Do you ever see sellers like this at coin shows?

maybe he has not searched them personally, but i bet whoever he got them from searched them first. however, if you read his feedback, he does have some interesting quotes. one stating that a buyer recieved a 1909, and a 1909s wheat cent. its possible some low grade attractive dates are in these, but not enough to make me want to buy.

Perhaps it's not an outright scam. Either way, though, it's a sucker's bet and the suckers will almost always lose.

But it's possible the quotes were from a shill.
