What if it is about Carr's PL pieces? :vamp:

Why does anyone buy anything, ridiculous price or not? Lucky for you (and the buyers), you don't need to worry yourself about protecting them. These are very collectible in their own right and the buyers love them.

Thanks for continuing to contribute to a calm, level-headed discussion, there.

I actually like this one, but I’d rather hold out for a nice VF/EF altered 1813. Though I like the intense luster on this one.

We characterize these as fake coins when we're trying to work out the legalities. Characterize them as art when you're trying to work out the price.

Why do some call others haters? Is it just because they have a different opinion?
The only time you hear the word hater, in this hobby is when folks are talking about this topic. What's wrong with that?

Because when overwhelming evidence is present that someone is just stating their feelings over and over again trying to rip someone else down it is a very fitting term.

There are no opinions on Carr that override facts. The ANA dismissed a claim fact. The government has been alerted and not acted for almost a decade, fact. Internet experts saying he is making copies or it is illegal, feelings

    You're projecting again.

You're right. The fact is that the FTC has already stated that "fantasy dates" do not exempt a coin from the marking requirement of the HPA. Federal regulations under the HPA also contemplate altered coins. Case closed... We can all move on now. These threads remind me of a group of petulant kids that refuse to accept that Santa Claus isn't real. I know you want to believe in the numismatic version of Santa, but it is all a chimera. I'm sorry I had to be the one to break it to you.

In fairness, the Omega man's coins were fetching a decent premium over the real coins not that long ago. I don't care for Carr's pieces but others do, so apparently there is some sort of market even if I disagree with the fundamental assumptions that it makes.

So many feelings. Anyways feelings aren't facts so it really doesn't matter.

People have hobby's for numerous reasons, mostly to gratify themselves. Just let them enjoy their passion, whatever it may be.

I'm glad that you are finally able to recognize that and come to terms with your denial. Do you feel better now? I love cathartic endings for contentious threads.

As far as I know, DC never makes any coins that actually existed in real life. He will do fantasy designs, or dates/mintmarks that never existed.

You can't copy something that didn't exist to begin with.

You obviously haven't read any of the threads including this one. This is why these threads are so protracted and numerous and the whole discussion sounds like a broken record. No one bothers to read the other posts or even the law before posting.

The answer to your question or position has already been posted in this thread at post #20. The HPA covers more than just exact copies and this precise question has been addressed by the government.
