Be careful carrying around a box labeled $500. Someone might try and rip you off.

This week's box was the first with any keepers in about a month. 3x impaired proofs, 6x 40%.

Technically, I think 1 box of halves weighs 27.4 lb, but maybe I’m showing my age by worrying about the extra 2.4 lb :)

Got a lovely 1995S out of a penny roll today.
But I figure I will need to buy box somewhere besides my little town. This box is rather disappointing.

Thanks Berto for the reply. I suggested 25 Lbs based on my own empirical data, where I weighed a number of half dollar boxes (20 or so) on my bath scale. The scale is good to 0.2 Lbs so not super accurate. However, in every case the box weighed 25.0 or 25.2 Lbs. The few times it was 25.2 Lbs, I had some enders showing and found some silver. So, you got me curious about what the weight should be excluding the box. Coin weights are per the Red Book.

    If All Coins are Clad:
    11.34 gms/coin x 1000 coins / 453.6 gms/Lb = 25.0 Lbs

If All Coins are 90% Silver (unlikely but we can "Dream!"):
    12.50 gms/coin x 1000 coins / 453.6 gms/Lb = 27.6 Lbs

I guess the good news in all this is my bath scale is fairly accurate and I'm not any heavier than it shows, lol!

Continuing with my study to determine if my dump bank coin counting machines are accurate (picture of counting machine below). I will continue the study until all 8 branch machines have been checked with known quantities of halves. So far so good:

    Branch 1 - $300 my count vs. $300 machine's count
    Branch 2 - $540 my count vs. $540 machine's count

Found this '98 Wide AM in a bank box. I'm always torn whether to post here or in the error section since I did find them CRH'ing.

Wouldn't call it an error anyway, but a variety. WAMs used to be a big deal but I don't hear much about them anymore. If I recall, 98 was a little harder to find. Still a premium attached to these? I only ever found 1x 2000.

I know it's a variety but usually I post varieties in that section regardless. I checked it out on ebay and in that condition it's only bringing a couple bucks at best. I have found 2 of the Wide AM's since I've been searching now for a few years. Still cool to find!
