Hi I think this 1964 is the accented hair half dollar It has the weak or broken serif ,can anyone confirm ? If so would you have the half graded or the set of just keep as is ? All comments welcome...well most of them
Gorgeous coin either way. I cant tell from the pics but I suck so whatever. Personally in my little weird world, I would just keep it put and enjoy it.
Im very novice here. I wouldnt trust me telling someone a quarter is worth 25 cents. However, I did go through a little phase of searching halves. That one you got is a keeper! Everything about it looks great. Hopefully it is some sort of variety and that would make it even neater for you!
Yeah I'm new to coins myself .I watch a lot of video's about coins on YouTube and have bought a few books to get me started, but its good to chat to coin folks on here for help
I agree. Just dont let the harshness around here get to you lol! Some take this very seriously. Im more in it for the "hunt" and love a coin that takes me an hour to research all the little details. I also love anything that shines real nicely like your example.
Too much of what you see about coins on BoobTube is produced by people looking for followers uneducated in the field of numismatics. By the way, if you have a copy of "Strike It Rich With Pocket Change", you might as well throw it in the trash. Chris
I'm not in it for the money per say ,but when I get too old to work I will be cashing in some of the coins that I can part with
Yes, I believe you do have the accented hair coin. Pretty cool pick-up. I still do not have one myself. Almost got one at the last coin show but opted for the '83 Souvenir set instead.
On the accented hair variety, the letter "I" in LIBERTY is missing a serif on the bottom-left side. It's not worth a great amount, but it's a nice find.
Your coin does look like the AH variety. Nice find. If you take a photo with a light source coming from the left you should be able to get a reflection of the accent that looks similar to this. Your photo shows it well enough, but it is fun to work with.
Ah ya belter, very happy with that . Thanks for all the comments I think there was only 3.8 million 1964 proof sets made roughly So I will hang on to this set,but should I have it graded ?
