None of the above. You do realize that you can search for completed auctions on ebay? If not here is the http://search.ebay.com/ws/search/AdvSearch?sofindtype=13 - just put in 1912 quarter, clicked completed auctions, then click search. So search completed auctions to see what they are closing at. Plus your ebay ID has brooks in it. So it was an easy search - search for 1912 quarter. Then roll through the first 3/4 auctions that have completed. See one with where winner was rhs.brook or something like that. Match the pictures and ta da - I am mr magico. Still I think you did pretty good.
Yes, I did know about the completed listings. Usually I see some cheap actions that did not have any bids and already ended, and I say to myself "Where am I when this happens!" You would ind peace dollars for like 8 dollars with no bids and in great condition! (THIS IS MY 100th POST!)
Been there - done that. Not with peace dollars, but with several other coins - silver eagles, large cents, etc. I search ebay almost everyday, watch several and bid on even fewer coins - and I still miss some of these auctions. Some of them might be coins listed incorrectly, but still I do not see how I miss some of them.
I also do this. I always search about twice a day, and look for new auctions... Today, I just lost a super nice 1905 Indian Head, because I went to work on a project, and eat. When I came back, I lost it by 2.25... (it was high AU or so) oh well!
I was once bidding on a 1875 silver liberty half dollar and about ms65+ for 30 dollars. Went to go eat dinner, came back and lost by 1.76!!!!!
I spent two years in England and when I went to work, the first thing I would do was search e-bay listings (at the time it was for baseball cards). Because 8 a.m. in England is 1 a.m. or so in the US. You can get a lot of deals on e-bay late at night.
