I just took a peak at the second box (10 rolls:D) and found 10 2007(finally!) No 2008's as of yet. I am still hopeful. LOL

I went to my bank and asked for all the halves and non Sacagewea and presidential dollars they had. They only had $3 worth of halves. I found (1) 40% silver and the other (5) were all clad. Not a bad find.

It is a 1967 and it looks like it is in pretty good shape to me.

Picked up 2 boxes of cents today, one was all 2008-D's. Neet seeing all the new pennies but wish I looked at it before I left the bank. Ill save a couple of rolls and turn back the rest to my dump bank. Will open the other box this weekend.

    Even Better Day!~!~!~!~!

Today I had to go about 70 miles North to setup a patient on some medical equipment and I left early incase of traffic on I-95 or the Turnpike. I arrived early but so did the patient. Yahoo!!! I was able to head back home earlier than I planned so I stopped at just a few banks. I stopped at 5 and only 2 banks had halves. One had $90 worth which ended up being all clad. The other bank at $160 worth and YEEHAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The first roll was all clad but the 2nd roll was all silver. The person who rolled them probably had them rolled for quite some time because all the silver halves were together. One roll was split but the rush you get when you slide those halves in your hand and they are all silver is almost orgasmic :) Bank rolled halves are usually terrible IMHO and my best finds come from customer rolled halves.

    Summary of today's find:

    (22) 1964 (all but 2 look BU and the other 2 look AU)

    (6) 1965
    (10) 1966
    (18) 1967
    (9) 1968
    (4) 1969

69 total halves with the 90% 64's being the most plentiful of any year. They are beautiful.

    My cost = $34.50
    Value based at $17/oz = $253.00
Equates to ~~~~~ 14.908 oz. of silver @ $2.31 per ounce.

Weeks like this remind me why I stop day after day and never give up even if I get NO keepers all week. Oh...the day is not over and my next patient is south about 20 miles so I guess I have time to hit a few more banks. You just never know what's still out there :) :) :)

Just found out the credit union I use has a change dump machine that is at no cost to members. Since I did't have to roll the chage back up I thought I'd give it a try. Got $20 worth of dimes. I found one 1993 Panamanian dime. Not much- but it was fun. I'll keep trying.

Can't get rolls of halfs at my bank but last week the teller (Who knows I collect) said there was $35.00 in the vault. I said I'd take 'em! Got them home and found 6 40%... My first silver findings....

Maybe the economy is bringing some of these rolled coins out of hiding. I think the only way I could have gotten full rolls of silver is from someone who had these rolled for quite some time. Most looked BU to AU to gently circulated. There are so many seniors on fixed incomes and with the rising cost of gas and food plus the higher out of pocket cost for medications thanks to the disaster known as Medicare Part D, I just think people are cashing in some coins they have saved. I'm not counting on silver dollars showing up in abundance because the name SILVER DOLLAR implies there is silver in it and people might look for buyers, but Eisenhowers are showing too. One bank, where I got $40 in halves also had $400 in Ike's but I passed even though there might have been some keepers. They also had $50 in rolled Sacagawea dollars. They said someone turned them all in recently.

I backed off on roll searching for a month or so because I was having a streak of very bad luck but I just think that the tighter money becomes, the more coins that will show up at banks. I'm back to making several bank stops per day again and hopefully, more and more will contribute to my wealth preservation :)

Good Luck to all others who enjoy this hunt for cheap treasure :)

I put this on a different thread, but probably belongs here instead.

After seeing everyone's postings about their latest half dollar finds, it got me all fired up. So this past Friday and Saturday I went around to many of my local banks buying up all the half dollar rolls. Unfortunately, I was one step behind someone else who was doing the same thing. So this is how it turned out.

Initial Investment = $150 Found 20 silver halves!

    Here was the breakdown.
    2 Franklin Halves - 57D & 58D
    3 90% Silver Kennedy
    15 40% Silver Kennedy

    The biggest hit I had was 5 silver in one roll! = 1 90% and 4 40%.

Thank you everyone for getting me fired up about searching for halves again! :thumb:

I was browsing on ebay and discovered that people are bouying larger lots of pre 82 cents in large lots (usually $25 or $50 lots), for about double face value. I am going to go through my $50 of cents again and pull them, and start my hoard.

1972 DDO-II a week ago, only after searching 7 $25 boxes, my back hurts from hunching over. I think I'm done with bank rolled cents until 2009. Kennedy box today ($500 worth): 6- 1964's and 26- 1966 to1969. 2 Nickel boxes, nothing but a '45S. Still looking for that 1950 and OMM's.
