I got this back in change today. Can any experts out there either confirm my conclusion or correct me?
Have you ever figured out why they call it a wide AM? Is there actually a minute difference between the type one rev. of 88 and the type two rev. of 89? I have never noticed any difference myself.
I The question was 88 WAM only. It is thoroughly confusing to say WAM in this attribution. Using RDV-005 and RDV-006 I am unable to see any difference. http://varietyvista.com/01b LC Doubled Dies Vol 2/Memorial Reverse Design Varieties.htm WAM and CAM are easily detected.
I never thought there was anything special about an 88 with a wide am. I watched a video about it and did some digging. PCGS has this listed as a variety. With price values up to $425 in ms65 rd. And then auction records nearly doubling PCGS values. Am I looking at CoinFacts wrong? I don’t see anything else special on the label other than “wide am FS-901”. What am I missing? A ms64 even sold for more than $500 last year through heritage with this variety. I’m only trying to learn and mean absolutely no disrespect. Maybe I’m reading it wrong.
This was my point in the post above yours. Looking at the two RDV's will tell you that the only difference is the flared G in FG. Wide AM exists in both types.
so i did a little research first all U S memorial cents are wide am till 1993 this why the closed am for the 1992 cent is valuable. wide am value is in the years 98 99 2000 with the 99 being most valuable as for the 1988 value lies in the artist mark FG with phil mint 11 different dies and den mint 7 so denver mint 1988 with fancy FG is of most value.
