1884-O Morgan VAM help needed. Awful strike.

    I have to say no. The date position is a tad to the left to be VAM-10.

    edit - Maybe VAM-25? Check for 188 in the denticles.

    I'll have to look at my V-25. I'll bet it's just as flat...

    There are a couple on eBay and they look just as awful as mine.

    Wow, you're right. That is a really bad strike. That's one of the worst I've seen in a while.

    Is this date known for being worse than other O-mints?

    Shouldn’t be... there’s a lot of nice 84-O’s out there.

    84-O runs the gamut for strike quality. There are nice ones, including sharp PL and DMPL coins, and pancakes. The strike tends to be fairly consistent for a die pair. VAM 25 is a cool variety, though.
