    Hello again Gents,

This one 1548073372729.jpg 1548073399248.jpg 1548073411204.jpg 1548073458740.jpg 1548073484423.jpg 1548073516036.jpg has a few things that have me up in the air. Looks what might be a broad strike?? Around the edges? But what's going on with all the extra around his eyes and funky hair-do? Too much juice when struck or what? Thanks again 1548073372729.jpg 1548073399248.jpg 1548073411204.jpg 1548073458740.jpg 1548073484423.jpg 1548073516036.jpg

    Shrews1994 Collecting is my passion.

I think it's because of the worn die making you see that.

Correct. Worn Die Strike with many years of circulation wear. Not a Broadstrike.

Got it, thank you. Is that what's causing the funky hair and excess nickel/copper around his face as well?

Yes. The obv die is shot. You'll see a lot of nickels and dimes with the "orange peel" look from the early 80s. Back when they first came out, I used to save them thinking they were special (those were the days when info on the minting process and errors were hard to come by). Probably still have some in 2x2s somewhere

It does look like something has been pressed into the forehead and hair. I can't identify anything specifically , I suspect it is just damage. Something along the way of a vice job. Which is a shame because it is a beautiful example of a severely worn out obv die.

Your pictures made me dizzy. Are you unable to orientate them correctly? A rolling coin gathers no moss.

I am able to orientate them correctly, @Mountain Man. However, at that time in the morning I was disorientated. Lol. Appreciate it everyone.
