Should I save all. Should I only save the ones in best condition? I'm talking 20 years , saving for grandkids..

Welcome to CT. Sure save them for the kids but don't expect them to be worth more than face value.

Unless you find the Cheerio coin,,,,0r the 2000 W,,the only other one of any major value would be the Goodacre which all 5000 are accounted for.

I recommend buying a Dansco album and putting together a set of the nicest coins you can find. I'm working on mine right now and it's a good break from CRH half dollars. I am only missing 3 through 2017, all found CRH.

Welcome to CoinTalk @tociwest ! A picture would be helpful, but my guess would be that it is just coin that has turned brown due to exposure to the elements (air, water, earth, etc.). But post a picture and we'll weigh in on it.

Not sure how old they are but save the best in their birth year.

    First, welcome to the neighborhood!

Yes, it would be best if you posted images of both sides of your coin. You might even want to start a new thread, appropriately titled, to make it easier for you to find.

i know it looks like a real weathered coin but it appears in person as all copper.

The "golden dollar" composition tones very quickly. Your coin has just picked up natural coloration from being exposed to the environment. It is not an error and is worth face value

I used to have the mindset to save all the coins of a certain denomination that I could. Within a short period of time that has changed. I guess I used to hoard coins and now I prefer to save/buy the best I can afford to. It's entirely up to you as to what you want to do. If you want value with the sacagawea then I would save the best specimens you can. Value in this series will be in high grades only.

    Try another bank.
Instead of asking for a whole box, ask for $25- $50 worth. You can sometimes get rolls of change other customers brought in.
